According to Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle United are still in the hunt to sign Moussa Diaby; the Bayer Leverkusen star who inspired his side to another big win in Europe this week.
After scoring the winning penalty in their Europa League win over Monaco, Diaby sent his side through to the quarter finals on Thursday night with a stunning solo goal and brilliant assist in a 2-0 victory over Ferencváros.
His goal highlighted his blistering pace and composure in front of goal, while his second half assist saw him cut inside and pick out a lovely pass to put Amine Adli clean through.
That’s now 12 goals and seven assists for the 23-year-old – an impressive tally considering Leverkusen’s struggles. Watch his latest goal below, followed by an update from Romano on the winger’s future:
“Arsenal have appreciated Moussa Diaby for a long time,” Romano told CaughtOffside.
“It’s almost two years following him but the same happened with other clubs including PSG and Newcastle.
“Bayer Leverkusen wanted to keep him last summer and in January, for this summer it will depend on the value of the proposals.”
