Sources close to £30m target claim Newcastle move looks ‘increasingly likely’ – Report

Newcastle are ‘confident’ of bringing Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney to St James’ Park this summer, according to The Sun.

As stated in the report, sources close to the player believe a move to Eddie Howe’s Mags looks ‘increasingly likely’, with Newcastle identifying the £30m-rated Scot as a top target.

Dan Burn has been filling in as a full-back and, although it is not his strongest position, has done a very solid job as part of the best defence in the Premier League.

However, it is clear that the 6ft 7 defender is limited when going forwards and Howe is on the lookout for a new left-back he can use as an attacking outlet similar to Kieran Trippier.

Tierney currently plays as back-up to Oleksandr Zinchenko and is said to be on the lookout for a new challenge. The opportunity to play a big part in our exciting new project could appeal – opposed to a fringe role at Arsenal – giving him regular game time and a move that brings him closer to family in Scotland.

With a fee reported to be around £30m, the 26-year-old could prove to be a solid addition to next season’s squad if he can avoid any of the serious injuries that have hampered his career so far.
