Newcastle officials watch AC Milan star in Rome as player eyes Premier League return – Report

According to new reports, Newcastle United scouts were in Italy over the weekend to watch AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori.

This comes from 90min, who reveal that officials from Newcastle, Arsenal and Man Utd were all present for their 1-1 draw at Roma on Saturday night to take a closer look at the former Chelsea talent.

It’s believed Tomori is ‘interested’ in returning to the Premier League this summer, feeling this may be key to breaking into Gareth Southgate’s England plans.

In truth, it’s a surprise he’s not already a Three Lions regular. Not only did the 25-year-old guide AC Milan to the league title back in 2021/22, he’s played a key role in their run to the Champions League semi-final this season.

The mobile defender tends to play as a left-sided centre-back for the Rossoneri, but he is right-footed and could be a superb long-term partner for Sven Botman, offering real pace, athleticism an quality in possession.

He ticks plenty of boxes and also has some Premier League experience – something Howe seems to value highly – so I wouldn’t be surprised if Tomori is someone we’re watching.
