It’s become a weekly occurrence to see a dodgy VAR decision work in Liverpool’s favour.
West Ham were denied a blatant penalty last week – which could’ve made it 1-1 in the 90th minute – and Diogo Jota somehow escaped a red card before scoring a last-gasp winner in their 4-3 win over Spurs on Sunday.
Last night, they took on Fulham at Anfield, knowing a win was essential to stay in with an outside chance of catching Newcastle or Man Utd in the race for a top-four finish. They didn’t play well, but were given a dubious penalty that Mo Salah dispatched.
Looking back at replays, there’s no clear contact, with Darwin Nunez flinging himself to the ground after Issa Diop’s clumsy piece of defending. As you can see from the clip below, the Fulham centre-back doesn’t touch the Uruguayan. It’s quite incredible that this is given, yet James Tarkowski’s blatant smash into Sean Longstaff’s ankle was ignored at Goodison Park this time last week.
The only thing consistent about VAR is its ability to protect ‘big six’ sides, with Liverpool’s win sending them six points behind Newcastle and four behind Man Utd; who travel to Brighton tonight.
The good news is that Liverpool looked poor once again. They were open at the back and held on for a 1-0 win in the end. Play like that against Ivan Toney’s Brentford on Saturday and I can see the Bees getting a result.
Watch it again tomorrow while sober and you’ll see the clear contact

It was as clear a penalty as you’ll see this season. Defender completely missed the ball and swung his foot out.

If we do our job which is the important thing, it won’t matter what happens with Liverpool or anyone else.
We need six or possibly seven points it due to our goal difference that’s the facts.
If we can’t get that from our remaining games we probably don’t deserve CLF.
It’s still been a better season than most expected and we are moving in the right direction.

My concern is why the so called VAR not being ban for such scenarios, am fade up with EPL and VAR referees and they have to be ban then you will see officiations improving.
