Italian outlet CalcioMercato are reporting that Newcastle and Spurs are both showing interest in Juventus defender Gleison Bremer.
The Serie A could be forced to sell the centre-back in the next window due to serious financial issues and it’s thought the two Premier League clubs have emerged as the most likely destinations.
Bremer was actually linked with a move to St James’ Park last summer, but ended up joining Juventus instead. Since then, he’s been a regular in their defence, making 39 appearances in all competitions.
Given our prior interest and ongoing search for a right-sided centre-back to play compete with Fabian Schar, I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s someone we’re looking at – especially when you factor in Juve’s financial struggles.
It’s thought a fee in the region of £40m will be demanded for the 26-year-old, allowing the Italian giants look to make a small profit 12 months after signing him.
Although the Brazilian may come at a hefty price, he would bring some Champions League experience into the squad and add some much needed quality in depth as we prepare for a hectic season next year.
