Watch angry Leeds fan confront Eddie Howe – Toon boss asks “what if” after worrying incident

In the latter stages of today’s 2-2 draw at Elland Road, Eddie Howe was pushed by a Leeds fan who was somehow allowed into the technical area.

He was eventually dragged away by security, but it’s a huge concern that an angry pitch invader – who’ll receive a hefty ban I’m sure – was able to get that close after going past stewards.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, Howe was unable to repeat what the fan shouted at him before the push, but wonders ‘what if’. What if that happens again and the fan involved is armed or out to cause harm? It’s a real worry that he was able to get that close.

Howe feels this breach if security is a concern that must be dealt with, saying no one should have their own personal safety violated in the middle of a football match.

Here’s the incident itself, followed by what Howe’s thoughts on the incident and assessment of the game:

“I can’t repeat what he said but it makes you think ‘what if’. Nobody should have to feel their personal safety is violated when trying to entertain the country.”

“No-one should have to face that, to feel your own personal safety violated.

“Security is paramount. We have to be mindful”

  1. Leeds should get a massive fine for that – could have been very dangerous that.

Not sure why the bloke was so upset with Howe for anyway 🤷🏼‍♂️

  2. Everybody’s trying to make a huge thing out of this whereas Howe said in the post match presser that he couldn’t even remember if the guy pushed him.

Some people have even claimed that the “incident” overshadowed the match.
Absolute garbage. Howe had to be pushed on it three times by these so-called journos before he came up with a quote that the papers thought was extreme enough to use.

A fan entered the pitch area, and swore at Howe.

It was a nothing incident. The guy should be banned for life from football stadia and that should be it. None of the sports press have mentioned his name, so he doesn’t get his moment of glory, but no doubt when the police are involved that will all change and he’ll be a local hero.
