Some big claims have emerged from Sky Sports in Germany this morning, who have once again linked us with a move for RB Leipzig star Dominik Szoboszlai.
They report that our interest in the attacking midfielder has ‘intensified’ in recent weeks, stating that it’s now been agreed ‘internally’ that he’s a key target for the club this summer.
Sky Germany add that we are in the market for three key signings, with a right-sided attacker, central midfielder and right-sided centre-back set to be pursued.
As for Szoboszlai, they reveal that Newcastle scouts were in the stands to watch the Hungarian score a 96th minute winner against Werder Bremen yesterday, taking his tally for the season to eight goals and 13 assists.
Just last week, Sky Germany said we had scouts watching Leipzig’s recent 2-0 defeat at Bayer Leverkusen, so it seems we have real interest in the versatile 22-year-old.
The former Salzburg star has a £60m release clause in his contract and said this on his future yesterday after scoring a last-gap winner:
“I’m definitely still with Leipzig for three games. I’d like to play in the Champions League and would like to win my second trophy with Leipzig. We’ll see what happens after the summer.”

Referee born on Merseyside for the Brighton game!
