Supercomputer predicts final PL table after Newcastle drop points and Brighton shock Arsenal

The statisticians at FiveThirtyEight believe Newcastle United will still secure a top four finish this season.

In their latest set of predictions, they believe we have a 87% chance of bringing Champions League football back to St James’ Park – despite Saturday’s dropped points in a 2-2 draw at Leeds.

They back us to end the season on 71 points – meaning we’ll pick up two draws and a win from our remaining three games against Brighton (H), Leicester (H) and Chelsea (A).

FiveThirtyEight think Liverpool will finish the season on 68 points – suggesting they’ll pick up six points from remaining games against Leicester (A), Aston Villa (H) and Southampton (A) – although we can expect their top four probability (currently 25%) to increase should they see off the Foxes tonight.

Here’s their predicted Premier League table in full, featuring Man City as champions, Man Utd beating us to third by a point, Brighton finishing sixth and Leeds and Leicester going down alongside Southampton:
