Isak and Wilson START + four shock changes for Brighton – Early team news from St James’ Park

The team sheets are in ahead of tonight’s huge game at St James’ Park, where Newcastle can move four clear of Liverpool with a win over Brighton.

Without further ado, here’s the side Eddie Howe has gone with:

STARTING XI: Pope – Trippier, Schar, Botman, Burn – Willock, Bruno, Joelinton – Almiron, Wilson, Isak.

SUBS: Dubravka; Dummett, Gordon, Saint-Maximin, Lewis, Targett, Manquillo, Anderson, L.Miley.

An unchanged line up from Saturday’s draw at Leeds, seeing Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson start in the same side once again, with Joelinton, Joe Willock and Bruno Guimaraes making up our midfield three.

Sean Longstaff misses out as expected, while 17-year-old talent Lewis Miley is on the bench alongside Allan Saint-Maximin, Anthony Gordon and Elliot Anderson.

For Brighton, Alexis Mac Allister, Lewis Colwill, Evan Ferguson and Julio Enciso are ALL missing from their starting XI, seeing Roberto De Zerbi make a host of surprise changes.

Brighton XI: Steele, Gross, Dunk, Van Hecke, Estupiñán, Caicedo, Gilmour, Mitoma, Buonanotte, Undav, Welbeck.

HOWAY THE LADS!

  1. Hope Trippier shows some defensive discipline against Mitoma this evening.
Feel we will need St Max at some point tonight.
