According to The Athletic, Eddie Howe looks set to include teenage talent Lewis Miley in tonight’s squad with Sean Longstaff and Matt Ritchie ruled out and Jacob Murphy an injury doubt.
The 17-year-old has withdrawn from England’s Under-17 squad due to this late call-up and is expected to be named on the bench against Brighton.
Miley, who can play as a No 8 or out wide, has been training regularly with the club’s first-team squad and could even make his Premier League debut in our final few games of the season, should a suitable opportunity to give him some minutes arise.
The England youth international signed his first professional contract with the club just two weeks ago and is considered to be one of the academies top prospects. There’s big hopes behind the scenes that he will develop into a first-team player in years to come.
It’s unlikely that Howe will throw him into our top-four battle just yet, but we might see him feature on the final day at Chelsea should we secure a Champions League finish by then.
