Pep Guardiola reveals what ‘wowed’ him about Newcastle after watching 4-1 win vs Brighton

Pep Guardiola has hailed Newcastle United’s push towards a top-four finish, revealing how blown away he was by our ‘energy and determination’ in last night’s 4-1 win over Brighton.

Speaking ahead of Man City’s clash with Chelsea this weekend, the Spaniard was asked about the battles his team have faced this season, explaining how the division has got tougher now the likes of Newcastle have broken into the ‘big six.’

He commented on the fact we are now just ‘one game away’ from securing a Champions League finish – we’ll qualify if we beat Leicester on Monday – and revealed that he was wowed by the intensity of our play while watching the game last night.

Guardiola feels we are fully deserving of a place in the top-four, having this to say when speaking to the press in Manchester just moments ago:

“I think we invite one or two more teams to sit at the table. Newcastle are there already. It’s one game away from the Champions League. They deserve to be there for what they’ve done this season.”

Yesterday, I saw the game against Brighton. The energy and determination, wow. Newcastle deserve to be there, for what they have done this season, they deserve to be there.”
