Jonjo Shelvey set for Nottingham Forest exit as club sanction sale after fallout – The Times

Jonjo Shelvey’s time at Nottingham Forest looks set to be short lived.

According to The Times, the club are already looking to offload the 31-year-old just four months after he swapped St James’ Park for the City Ground back in January.

Shelvey signed a two-and-a-half year deal on deadline day, but has already fallen out of favour under Steve Cooper and has informed the club he’d like to move in search of regular playing time.

He was left out of their squad over the final seven games of the season, but a disagreement with Cooper before their away trip to Liverpool back in April appears to have burned bridges.

Reports suggest he reacted angrily to being benched at Anfield and was sent home ahead of kick-off. Since then, he’s not featured once, making it six starts in four months and a pretty miserable move for all parties.

His hefty wage packet could limit the options available to him this summer, but the former Toon midfielder could be one to watch as he looks for a new club no sooner after signing for Nottingham.
