The Mail’s Craig Hope claims Newcastle ‘won’t be pursuing a deal’ for Bayer Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby despite being strong links with the winger since last summer.
While Miguel Almiron has had a great season and shown big improvements, Newcastle are still keen to bring in a top class right-winger to slot into our attacking line.
Diaby is a name that has often been linked with a move to Tyneside in the last 12 months and with us now in the Champions League it feels like the perfect time for him to make the move.
However, Hope has been told that the French international ‘isn’t a player that Eddie Howe wants’, suggesting we’ll be pursuing other options over the coming months.
Here’s what Hope said on the links to Diaby:
“Moussa Diaby is the name that has long been linked. Everything that comes back to me says that he isn’t a player that Eddie Howe wants.
“You can only go off the information you get, my information is that they won’t be pursuing a deal for Diaby.“
