Newcastle duo facing uncertain futures with deals due to expire in 12 months time – Report

As reported by The Athletic, both Jamaal Lascelles and Emil Krafth face uncertain futures at Newcastle with their contracts expiring next summer.

The club captain has rarely featured this season and although we are looking to add to our depth in centre-back, the 29-year-old is not expected to be offered a new deal.

Newcastle will be looking to bring in a new right-sided centre-half to ‘eventually replace’ Fabian Schar and clearly feel there is no need to keep Lascelles around beyond his current deal; due to expire in 2024.

As for Krafth, the club are waiting to see how the Swede gets on after recovering from his ACL injury before deciding on whether or not to extend his contract.

With Harrison Ashby arriving in January to hopefully play backup to Trippier, it is very likely that one of Manquillo or Krafth will leave this summer and it is now just a waiting game on the right-back’s recovery.
