Newcastle United have released their retained list ahead of the 2023/24 season.
Starting with departures, Matty Longstaff and Ciaran Clark have both been released. The former will stick around to receive treatment on his knee injury, but has not been handed a new deal.
The club have triggered options to keep Matt Ritchie and Mark Gillespie for another season, while Dan Burn has also extended his deal by a further 12 months (to 2025) after activating an appearance-based clause.
Paul Dummett an Loris Karius have both been offered new deals – they are due to be out of contract as things stand, but could stay if they accept our proposals.
Chris Wood’s exit is also imminent, with Newcastle confirming he’ll sign for Nottingham Forest on a permanent deal on July 1st. It’s reported that the fee will be £15m, as their obligation to buy following his January loan move has been triggered.
At U21 level, Harry Barclay, Niall Brookwell, Dan Langley, Joe Oliver, Josh Stewart and Isaac Westendorf have been released, while Jamie Miley – brother of Lewis – Will Brown, Nathan Carlyon, Kyle Crossley, James Huntley and Josh Scott have been offered contracts.
