Newcastle announce Champions League scheme & new ticket prices – Sparks VERY mixed reaction

Newcastle United have released ticketing information ahead of the 2023/24 season, also announcing a new Champions League scheme.

This scheme offers season ticket holders the chance to purchase a three-match package for our group stage games, with tickets priced at £55 each; meaning it’ll set you back £165 to attend all of our Champions League group matches at St James’ Park. For non-season ticket holders, it’ll cost even more.

Based on the responses on social media, many fans feel this new price point is too dear and a shortsighted move in the middle of a cost of living crisis. However, others suggest the chance to watch UCL football was never going to be cheap, feeling the club are bound to sell a higher quality of product at a higher price; especially when these revenues will only be pumped back into the club as we battle against FFP restrictions.

The cup scheme – which ST holders have priority access to op in to – also offers opt in opportunities for our FA Cup and Carabao Cup games, where prices are as follows:

The average increase of season ticket prices comes in at 3.3% – some categories have gone up by 5% – and season ticket holders will no longer have automatic access to membership benefits; giving members an improved chance of getting their hands on tickets.

On the plus side, the price of junior season tickets has been frozen by the club, meaning they will be available at the same price paid for the 2022/23 campaign.

Newcastle have announced that ST holders can renew between 10am on Monday 19 June, with the deadline for renewals falling at 5pm on Wednesday 5 July.

Speaking to NUFC.co.uk about the changes, CEO Darrens Eales has had this to say:

“St. James’ Park is an amazing place to watch football and we look forward to welcoming our incredible supporters back for our upcoming Premier League, domestic cup and UEFA Champions League campaigns.

“During the summer, we are continuing to invest in our facilities as we look to enhance the matchday experience for everyone, and we look forward to seeing our new licensed standing area in operation next season along with a new mobile ticketing system.

“I would like to thank everyone who took part in our recent ticketing survey and workshop. Fan engagement is hugely important to us and it will continue to inform our decisions as we build sustainable success together.”

  1. I would love to have a season ticket and attend matches, but I work sat and sunday so could not attend.
I intend to go to as many european games as possible but fear they will all be sold out by the time it comes to the likes of me.
