England ‘leak’ hints at James Maddison’s transfer plan after interest from Newcastle & Spurs

Some conflicting information is doing the round regarding James Maddison’s preferred summer move.

Last week, The Telegraph revealed that Newcastle have been led to believe he’d opt for Tyneside over Tottenham. However, the very opposite is now being reported by two other outlets today.

The Mail’s weekly transfer confidential piece has just been released, stating that ‘chat around the England camp’ is suggesting that Maddison is ‘keen to join Tottenham over rival clubs.’

Elsewhere, the Northern Echo’s Scott Wilson has also shared an update today, claiming that the 26-year-old prefers a move to London for ‘personal and family reasons’, with Spurs also set to offer the attacker a more lucrative contract due to our current wage structure. Wilson also adds that CAA Base have a struck up a ‘close relationship’ with Tottenham’s hierarchy after negotiating a deal that brought new boss Ange Postecoglou to Spurs.

Who knows how this one will pan out. Either way, I think we’ll get more clarity on this in the coming days, as Maddison is currently away on international duty and will be free to discuss his next move after tonight’s clash with North Macedonia at Old Traffford.

We don’t know his personal circumstances, but it would be disappointing if the Leicester City star chooses no European football at Spurs and the London life over Champions League football with Eddie Howe’s Mags.
