Sky Sports: Newcastle planning four more signings + Barnes and Tonali updates

Speaking from the club’s training ground, Sky Sports‘ Keith Downie has issued an update on the Toon transfer front.

He reports that we are looking to bring in four new signings, with centre-back, versatile full-back, midfielder and winger on Eddie Howe’s wanted list as he bids to ‘bulk up’ his squad ahead of our Champions League campaign.

On Harvey Barnes, Downie confirms that he is a player the Newcastle boss “really likes”, but it’s his understanding that we’re yet to submit a formal bid for the Leicester City star.

That remains ‘one to watch’, while new signing Sandro Tonali has been granted a week’s holiday after his visit to Tyneside, as his 48-game season at AC Milan was followed by his involvement at the U21 European Championships.

He adds that we’re looking to bring money in and trade in the transfer market, believing a few exits look likely to balance the books and work within FFP restrictions, with loans also likely for certain fringe men.
