Some big ‘breaking news’ has arrived on Wednesday night, confirming Newcastle United have now agreed a deal worth £38m for Leicester’s Harvey Barnes.
This comes from both The Athletic’s David Ornstein and Sky Sports’ Keith Downie, who report that we’ve reached a compromise with the Foxes over a fee.
Both report that personal terms will not a problem, allowing the move to accelerate quickly, with a medical scheduled in the next couple of days. If all goes to plan, the 25-year-old should travel to the US to join his new teammates.
Sky Sports add that the winger had interest from other Premier League clubs but had his heart set on a move to St James’ Park, seeing Eddie Howe land another key target following a £52m deal for Sandro Tonali.
Barnes would be a direct replacement for Allan Saint-Maximin who looks to be leaving for Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli for a fee in the region of £30-35m.
