  1. Olly:-
If Anyone was in any doubt about the Newcastle tax they just have to look at what Villa bought Diaby for, we were quoted a lot more and are paying over the top for Barnes and Livramento if it happens.
Seems like Financial Unfair Play Rules to me!

Not sure why we’re paying £30M for a right back when we have a perfectly capable back up to Tripps in Harrison Ashby.

Livramento just returning from serious injury and only reason he has more game time than Ashby is that Southampton didn’t have a right back of note.

I think Eddie has got most things right but I’m not sure about this one ?

I hear you, as Diaby was £60m last summer but appears to be leaving for around £35-40m now. Saying that, he’s now a year closer to the end of his deal (two years left) and they were in the UCL 12 months ago, so they had leverage over us and less need to sell.

As for Barnes, he’s English, a good age and has been one of the top 10 wingers in the PL over the last few years, so he’d never be cheap. I also see Livramento as a top class talent who could be worth double £30m in years to come.

  4. How come Ashby is up for interest? He has played one game, scored once, and is now up for sale? For someone else? I don’t understand this one at all sorry but is this right????

As we say in the podcast mate, it’s loan interest from Swansea. Would be a good move for his development.
