No sign of two Mags but Toon duo back in training – Good & bad news ahead of Sela Cup?

Eddie Howe has been handed an injury boost as both Sean Longstaff and Emil Krafth returned to training this week, but there’s no sign of Fabian Schar and Joe Willock in the latest photos from our Benton base.

Longstaff did not feature in any of our games in the Summer Series due to a ‘niggling injury’, but may still play a part in our two upcoming friendlies against Fiorentina and Villarreal.

Krafth is continuing to recover from an ACL injury that he suffered almost a year ago now, so it’s great to see him back on the pitch and stepping up his comeback.

In more worrying news, Schar doesn’t feature in any of the training photos from Tuesday or Thursday after he was subbed off early in our 1-1 draw with Chelsea last week. It’s hoped his withdrawal was precautionary and not due to an injury, so hopefully the scan results come back ok and he returns for next weekend’s opener should he miss both Sela Cup games.

Willock is still recovering from a hamstring injury picked up in our 4-1 win over Brighton in May and hasn’t kicked a ball in any of our pre-season games so far. He too didn’t feature in any of the training photos, although Eddie Howe said he wasn’t too far from returning after ‘building him up slowly’ from that hamstring issue.

With Eddie Howe set to speak with the press this morning, I’m sure we’ll find out more soon on all four.
