Back in June, we released an NUFCBlog exclusive revealing that Newcastle United had added Real Betis defender Juan Miranda to their list of potential left-back targets.
Two months later, The Athletic have written a piece this morning on our current shortlist, confirming that Miranda is a player under consideration.
They report that the 23-year-old has been watched closely by Newcastle United over the summer, with the Spanish U21 international thought to be on a four-man shortlist alongside Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney, Marc Cucurella and fellow Chelsea full-back Lewis Hall.
Miranda stands 6ft 1′ tall and is a Barcelona graduate who played a crucial role in Spain’s run to the Euro U21 finals earlier this summer, coming up against Toon winger Anthony Gordon.
As a tall full-back with quality on the ball and plenty of attacking intent, it’s an intriguing option and one that could come cheaper to alternatives like Tierney, Cucurella and Hall, with the Betis talent thought to have a relatively low release clause in his current deal.
Another one to watch and good to see our information from earlier in the window being backed up by The Athletic.
