Some huge claims have arrived from The Telegraph this morning, revealing that Newcastle United have had a £28m bid accepted for top left-back target Lewis Hall.
They report that this is an initial payment, suggesting the deal could go beyond that figure when add-ons are factored in, but it seems Eddie Howe is closing in on the highly-rated 18-year-old.
Sam Wallace – a chief writer at The Telegraph – revealed last night that Chelsea were prepared to sell the England U21 talent for around £30m. This was a sudden U-turn on their initial ‘not for sale’ stance and decision to loan the youngster to Crystal Palace, but another £165m spend on Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia has forced the Blues to sell in order to balance the books.
As a result, it seems we’ve wasted no time and moved straight for Hall; a boyhood Toon fan who comes from a family of Newcastle supporters.
We first revealed Newcastle’s interest in Hall back in July, with Eddie Howe a huge admirer of the teenage talent who can also play in midfield, at wing-back or on the left side of midfield.
