‘Breaking news’ from Sky Sports: Newcastle United launch bid to sign left-back

According to some ‘breaking news’ from Sky Sports, Newcastle United have submitted an official bid to sign Chelsea left-back Lewis Hall.

They report that our offer is over a permanent deal – despite talk of a loan-to-buy bid – and state that Chelsea value the highly-rated 18-year-old around the £30m mark.

This comes after The Athletic’s David Ornstein reported last night that we were ‘working on a deal’ to sign the England U21 talent, revealing that the player himself is keen on a permanent exit and the prospect of playing Champions League football under Eddie Howe.

Time will tell if the Blues deem our latest offer acceptable, as it emerged yesterday that we had a £17m bid turned down earlier this summer.

Either way, it’s promising to hear that Hall is keen on a move an that Chelsea are open to a sale after previously rejecting our interest. However, with another £165m spend on Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, it seems Stamford Bridge chiefs are forced to balance the books to remain within FFP restrictions.
