Liverpool dealt major blow ahead of Newcastle trip and Toon left with new injury concern

Liverpool will be without summer signing Alexis Mac Allister for next Sunday’s trip to St James’ Park after the midfielder was sent off in yesterday’s 3-1 win over Bournemouth.

It was a soft decision, but wasn’t overturned by VAR, meaning the Argentinian looks set to face a three-game ban and miss upcoming games against Newcastle, Aston Villa and Wolves.

The World Cup winner arrived at Anfield for £35m following an impressive spell at Brighton and could be a big miss for Jurgen Klopp’s Reds.

That said, we have a concern of our own in midfield, as Joelinton limped off in last night’s 1-0 defeat to Man City. Speaking after the game, Eddie Howe admitted he wasn’t moving well when forced off in the second half, but was unable to give an update as he waits for further assessment.

Elsewhere, the boss has also confirmed that Jacob Murphy missed out at the Etihad as his partner was due to give birth, meaning he should be back next weekend:
