Garang Kuol will “have to be patient” following a loan move to Eredivisie side FC Volendam, while fellow Mag Yankuba Minteh has continued his impressive start at Feynoord.
After Kuol played 24 minutes in Volendam’s season opener against Vitesse, the 18-year-old was left out of their squad for Saturday’s 4-1 defeat to Go Ahead Eagles.
Speaking ahead of the game, manager Matthias Kohler said: “We have to be patient with him. That is simply the case with a young player who comes from a foreign competition. We will see to what extent and for how long he can be used against Go Ahead.”
Following a frustrating spell at Hearts over the second half of the 2022/23 season, let’s hope the Aussie international can get regular game time soon.
Fellow Toon loanee Yankuba Minteh hasn’t been starting regularly for Dutch giants Feyenoord, but he’s made a real impact and helped inspire his side to a late comeback in Sunday’s Rotterdam derby.
After bagging a goal and an assist over pre-season and featuring in a cup final defeat to PSV earlier this month, the 19-year-old Gambian came on for the final 25 minutes of yesterday’s trip to Sparta Rotterdam.
His made an instant impact and helped change the game, with his disallowed goal three minutes after his introductions (watch below) followed by two late goals for Feyenoord, who came back from 2-0 down to leave with a point.
