According to a new report, Newcastle United are showing late interest in Arsenal attacker Emile Smith Rowe ahead of Friday’s 11pm deadline.
This comes from 90min, who claim that Newcastle have enquired about the possibility of bringing him to St James’ Park on loan. However, ‘as things stand’, it’s believed Mikel Arteta is now willing to part with the 23-year-old on a temporary basis. Chelsea have also had an approach knocked back, while Aston Villa are thought to be keen on a loan move.
Smith Rowe has been an unused substitute in all three of Arsenal’s Premier League games so far this season and played just three minutes of their Community Shield win over Man City last month.
The England U21 international had a tough 2022/23 campaign following groin surgery, but he wasn’t handed a single league start and appeared just once in their Europa League campaign, making just 13 sub appearances in all competitions.
His versatility and untapped potential will no doubt appeal to Eddie Howe, yet it would be a surprise to see us sign another attacking player when it’s widely accepted that any late loan move would go towards a centre-back. We shall see, though it seems Arsenal have no interest in loaning him out as present.

What is it with Howe and English players? There is loads of better talent all over Europe.I still reckon last season was a fluke!Sure look at the way this season has started? Not Good.I think Howe will be gone by January.

Smith Rowe is a sleeping lion at the moment and has the potential to become a world class player. I watched him many times in training and he is a cross between silva and James Maddison, with his quick brain, quick feet passing and an eye for goal. Arsenal know that when this sleeping lion finally awakes his value will be anywhere north of £80 million. He is that good. I dont think Arsenal would be willing to sell for £40 million as his future value will be enormous. So it makes no business sense to sell him cheaply to a potential rival team.

Lol. 5-1 against a Villa side tipped to do well and very narrow losses against Man City – the best club side in the world and Liverpool who will be pushing the top 4 places this season.
Give your head a shake, it’s very early to be thinking of sacking Eddie.
