Player drops hint he’s signing for Newcastle as two England talents give the game away

Back in July, we released an NUFC Blog exclusive confirming that Birmingham sensation Trevan Sanusi was close to joining Newcastle United’s ever-improving academy.

A few months later, the player himself has all but confirmed his move to Tyneside in an Instagram exchange with Wolves youngster Leo Shahar; another teenage talent who’s all set to sign at St James’ Park.

Yesterday, Shahar posted a goodbye message to his boyhood club ahead of his imminent move to Newcastle. Not only did Sanusi like this post, he commented with ‘linkup soon…’.

See the exchange below, where Shahar replied to Sanusi with an eyes emoji; another telltale sign that both England youth internationals are about to join our academy:

Sanusi had attracted serious interest from Man Utd, Liverpool, Spurs and Man City, but Dan Ashworth has sold him a move to Newcastle United, where he’ll join Shahar and Travis Hernes; the Norwegian youngster who arrived on deadline day from Shrewsbury.

Newcastle were also confident of signing another Three Lions youngster in Divine Mukasa, but rival interest from Man City has complicated his proposed move.

Great to see the club investing in the future, with Sanusi and Shahar two highly-rated talents expected to join our U18 ranks for the 2023/24 season.
