BBC pundit delivers bold Newcastle prediction – Big claims ahead of Brentford clash

BBC pundit Chris Sutton is backing Newcastle United to bounce back in style at St James’ Park tomorrow, predicting a 4-0 win for Eddie Howe’s Mags.

We’ve lost three of our first four Premier League games, but the former Blackburn and Celtic man believes this will ‘bring the best out of Newcastle’, feeling we’ll ‘click again’ and ‘demolish’ the Bees.

A bold prediction but we do have a history of responding to defeats in style. After our biggest loss last season – a 3-0 beating by Aston Villa – we returned home to batter Tottenham 6-1.

Though Brentford are a tough side to beat – currently on an 11-game unbeaten run – we delivered a similar score line in the same fixture last year, winning 5-1.

As Sutton suggests, it could be the performance we need to ‘kickstart’ our season and give us a great boost of confidence to head into the Champions League. Here’s what he told BBC Sport:

“This is a big game for Newcastle boss Eddie Howe after his side’s run of three straight defeats.

“Brentford are one of the worst teams to be facing in a situation like this – they are so well organised and also extremely dangerous when they come forward.

“But you know what? I actually think this will bring the best out of Newcastle and this will be the day when they click again.

“They put five goals past the Bees last time they came to St James’ Park, and I think they are going to demolish them this time too, and kickstart their season.

“Prediction: Newcastle 4 Brentford 0”
