Brilliant news on Tuesday as Newcastle reveal surprise Joelinton boost

Joelinton has returned to training ahead of schedule, handing Eddie Howe a huge boost ahead of our busy run of fixtures over the next fortnight.

Last week, Howe said the Brazilian had an outside chance of returning before October’s international break, which will commence following our trip to West Ham next Sunday.

However, we’ve spotted the Brazilian in one of the training photos released by the club on Tuesday afternoon (see below), suggesting he’s close to returning from a knee injury.

The big man hasn’t featured since he limped off in our 3-1 defeat to Brighton. He then went away on international duty, but that aggravated the injury, seeing him sit out recent games against Brentford, AC Milan and Sheffield United.

I’d be shocked if he plays any part of tomorrow’s Carabao Cup game with Man City, but the fact he’s training again puts him in with a chance of returning against Burnley – if not, PSG next Wednesday.

With Harvey Barnes ruled out for ‘months not weeks’ and Joe Willock set to be out until late October at the earliest, it’s a huge boost to see our midfield enforcer training again!

  1. If nothing else, surely we have learned to take Eddie’s comments on injury recovery with a pinch of salt?
