Prior to Newcastle’s Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday, Sky Sports spoke to Nick Pope’s dad, David, who mixed with Newcastle fans and described him and his wife as ‘adopted Geordie!’
Pope has been a consistent starter for Eddie Howe since signing from Burnley last summer and played a huge role in helping us achieve Champions League status.
The shot-stopper’s dad was over the moon to be in Germany to support his son and claimed that he had only missed one Newcastle game since Pope’s arrival, saying he and his wife ‘love it’ and described it as a ‘dream’ to watch Nick play amongst Europe’s elite.
David also revealed that our starting keeper ‘never gets nervous’ before a game, even when it’s playing in a high pressure match against some of Europe’s elite. Watch his chat with Keith Downie below:
