Eddie Howe has hailed Newcastle’s ‘giant performance’ in yesterday’s 4-1 win over Chelsea, praising our character and determination to fight through the current injury crisis and deliver such a top display.

Howe believed Alexander Isak’s ‘presence’ up top gave us a huge boost, credited Jamaal Lascelles’ superb recovery from a first half giveaway before Chelsea’s goal, described Anthony Gordon as a ‘constant menace’ down the left and explained how impressed he was by Lewis Miley’s ‘composure’ and ‘football brain’, insisting he has a huge role to play in the coming weeks.

The boss added that Emil Krafth missed out due to illness and fears Sean Longstaff (ankle) is unlikely to return for Tuesday’s trio to PSG, but was in a determined mood and clearly delighted by the win, the performance and the character we showed to overcome adversity and bounce back in style:
