Updates on Anthony Gordon & Kieran Trippier injuries ahead of 4 games in 11 days

Eddie Howe has offered an update on Anthony Gordon and Kieran Trippier after both were forced off in last night’s 2-1 defeat to AC Milan.

The boss admits he didn’t want to take either off, but claims both picked up ‘injuries in running’, with Trippier unable to continue after feeling something in the first half and Gordon struggling with a hamstring complaint.

Trippier is already suspended for Saturday’s clash with Fulham, but we’ll have to hope he can return injury free and well rested ahead of upcoming games against Chelsea (19th Dec), Luton (23rd Dec) and Nottingham Forest (26th Dec).

As for Gordon, Howe reveals that the winger was struggling to play at his highest level due to ‘awareness of something in his hamstring’, forcing him to limit sprints. He’s played a lot of football lately and the player himself ‘thinks he’s fine’, but both will be assessed.

Here’s what Howe had to say on both in his post-match press conference on Wednesday:

“I had to make two changes that I didn’t really want to make because of injuries in running.

“Kieran picked up something in the first half, I don’t quite know what it is at this moment in time. He wanted to carry on half-time, but then he signalled that he couldn’t continue.

“Anthony said he had an awareness of something in his hamstring. We’re not sure if it’s an injury because he could still sort of play, but he couldn’t play to the very high level that he has played for a long time.

“I think he had an issue full sprinting. Anthony is a very positive lad, and he thinks he’s fine. But let’s see.”

  1. Trippier was hammered by giroud at one point who seemed to make no attempt to play the ball.
Not implying nufc weren’t at it too but wonder if that’s the ‘something ‘ that trippier felt ..( sarky emoji)
On Gordon that explains him being subbed before almiron or Wilson which seemed a more obvious change last night

On a separate note .. really .. a social media site that doesn’t facilitate emojis ( rolly-eyes emoji)
