Newcastle suffer more Champions League pain as PSG and Dortmund land dream draws

The draw for the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League was made today and it was a painful watch from a Newcastle United perspectiv.

It was bad enough knowing we’d missed the chance to make the knockout stages last week, but a bitter pill to swallow when you see who PSG and Borussia Dortmund have drawn.

Group runners up PSG will face Real Sociedad – currently 6fth in La Liga – meaning we would’ve been handed a reunion with Mikel Merino and an extremely kind draw had we beaten Milan.

Group winners Dortmund will also be happy with their draw, as they face Dutch giants PSV in the last 16.

Here’s the draw in full, featuring some big ties like Napoli against Barcelona and Inter Milan vs Atletico Madrid:

  • Porto v Arsenal
  • Napoli v Barcelona
  • PSG v Real Sociedad
  • Inter v Atlético Madrid
  • PSV v Dortmund
  • Lazio v Bayern Munich
  • Copenhagen v Man City
  • RB Leipzig v Real Madrid

  1. Dortmund draw looks hard to me. PSV have won every league game(no draws) this season an obviously in first place in their league.
