It looks like Sunderland have finally found their man ahead of next month’s Tyne and Wear derby at the Stadium of Light.
According to Sky Sports’ Keith Downie, Michael Beale should be named the new Black Cats manager today, ‘barring any late hitches.’
The Mackems had pursued highly-rated Belgian Will Still, but they look set to appoint Beale instead, who is back in management less than three months on from his departure at Rangers.
Sunderland lost 1-0 to Bristol City over the weekend and currently sit 7th in the Championship, just three points behind the play-off places.
Based on the reaction I’ve seen on social media, most SAFC fans seem pretty underwhelmed by Beale’s seemingly imminent arrival, as he left QPR in 7th after 22 games and five without a win before he was later sacked by Rangers back in October.
Barring any late hitches, Michael Beale should be announced as Sunderland’s new Head Coach today.
