Toon fans set to suffer (again) as new TV changes cause chaos – So poor from Premier League

Newcastle United have announced that the Premier League have moved three of our fixtures across January and February for TV coverage; two of which are likely to cause chaos for fans traveling to games.

Our trip to Aston Villa on Tuesday 30th January has been moved back to 8.15pm (TNT Sports) on Tuesday 30th January and they’ve decided to change our game at Arsenal on Saturday 24th February from a 3pm kick-off to 8pm.

That game in North London will end around 10pm on Saturday night, yet the last train back to Newcastle on the 24th departs Kings Cross at 9pm. Once again, fans come last, as this will only add to the cost and inconvenience for the thousands travelling down to the capital. The same applies to the Villa game; a midweek match that won’t end until after 10pm, meaning hotels or days off work may need to be booked. Hardly ideal in the current climate.

Elsewhere, our trip to Forest on Saturday 10th February has also been moved from 3pm to 5.30pm, allowing it to be shown live on Sky Sports.

Here’s our full fixture list between now and the end of February, where seven of our next 10 games (in all competitions) will be shown across Amazon, Sky Sports, ITV and TNT Sports:

Saturday 23rd December 2023 – Luton v Newcastle (3pm)

Tuesday 26th December 2023 – Newcastle v Forest (12.30pm) Amazon

Monday 1st January 2024 – Liverpool v Newcastle (8pm) Sky Sports

Saturday 6th January 2024 – Sunderland v Newcastle (12.45pm) ITV

Saturday 13th January 2024 – Newcastle v Man City (5.30pm) TNT Sports

Tuesday 30th January 2024 – Aston Villa v Newcastle (8.15pm) TNT Sports

Saturday 3rd February 2024 – Newcastle v Luton (3pm)

Saturday 10th February 2024 – Forest v Newcastle (5.30pm) Sky Sports

Saturday 17th February 2024 – Newcastle vs Bournemouth (3pm)

Saturday 24th February 2024 – Arsenal vs Newcastle – (8pm) – TNT Sports

Great news for fans keen to watch us on TV from home, but the changes made to Aston Villa and Arsenal away days show it’ll always be money over away fans when it comes to the Premier League and major broadcasters.

  1. Ironic that this article, with a thinly veiled swipe at fans watching nufc on tv (for whatever reason), comes along just after one with no commentary covering the unbelievably unauthentic PL statement about how much it values fans.
Maybe an article assessing the value of tv fans might balance out the somewhat uninformed view

I have no idea where my swipe at fans watching NUFC on TV comes in here. Think you’ve read too much into that!

  3. you think ??
    1. “Fans watching nufc on tv from home. “
I like many fans across the us ( and elsewhere), watch nufc ftom a local club on TV, not home. Which coincidentally I travel a fair distance / time to do three times a week right now taking time off work to do so
2.” it’ll always be money over paying customers when it comes to the Premier League “
The last time I checked I subscribe for a service ( actually three services) to watch nufc so that’ll be me and others who are paying customers too

Now I get swipe less than the impact to those who choose to follow nufc away from home, with whom I sympathise when they get f’ked around, but it’s not nothing and your lazy stereotype of tv watching fans is not accurate wether you intended it or not

I agree with point two – hold my hands up there. Hadn’t considered how this line comes across when ‘paying customers’ (for TV) now benefit from 7 games on TV. No swipe intended – I pay for Sky/BT so I’m in same boat!

In the process of moving house, writing for the site full-time, sorting for Xmas and dealing with a puppy who wants to go to the toilet every 20 minutes, so apologies if some of my articles aren’t at their best 🤣
