Toon reignite interest in winger after failed approach last summer – Report

According to reports in Spain, Newcastle United remain in the mix for Raphinha as Barcelona look increasingly likely to cash in on the winger.

Sport claim that we tried and failed to sign the Brazilian last summer, while Mundo Deportivo report that we’ve reignited our interest now the La Liga giants are ‘running out of patience’ with the former Leeds star.

The Spanish giants have well documented financial issues and need to offload some of their unwanted sellable assets in order to raise funds to avoid punishment.

This means the 27-year-old is likely to be placed on the transfer list after struggling to nail down a regular place in Xavi’s starting 11, with an end-of-season move more likely.

It’s believed Barcelona had no interest in selling when we enquired last summer, but their stance appears to have changed and, with that, the player himself may be more receptive to leaving.

It’s a move that could make plenty of sense if the price was right, as he’s a proven Premier League operator who could add goals, assist, energy and skill to a right-hand side in need of fresh competition for Miguel Almiron.

  1. Is he any better than Almiron personally I think they’re on the same level.
We missed a trick with Diaby and need someone more like him than this guy.

Yeh, I do like the look of Diaby. Think Raphinha is a real upgrade on Miggy, mind. He was brilliant at Leeds prior to Barca move.
