£32m man out with flu and Lewis Miley starts vs Man City – Team news from SJP

The team sheets are in ahead of tonight’s 5.30pm kick-off at St James’ Park, where Newcastle United take on Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. Here’s the side Eddie Howe has gone with:

STARTING 11: Dubravka – Trippier, Schar, Botman, Burn – Longstaff, Bruno, Miley – Almiron, Isak, Gordon.

SUBS: Karius, Gillespie, Dummett, Lascelles, Ritchie, Krafth, Hall, A Murphy, Parkinson.

Lewis Miley returns to our midfield in place of Joelinton, who has been ruled out for at least six weeks with a thigh problem.

That’s the only change from our 3-0 win at Sunderland last weekend, meaning Dan Burn keeps his place at left-back ahead of Tino Livramento; who misses out on the squad entirely with flu.

Unfortunately, the game has come too soon for Callum Wilson, Joe Willock, Elliot Anderson, Jacob Murphy and Harvey Barnes, who all miss out once again.

For Man City, they are without Erling Haaland, as expected, but Kevin De Bruyne is back in the squad,Jeremy Doku starts down the left and Toon target Kalvin Phillips is on the bench.

Man City XI: Ederson, Walker (C), Dias, Ake, Gvardiol, Rodrigo, Kovacic, Bernardo, Foden, Doku, Alvarez.

HOWAY THE LADS!

  1. Frustrating as that was a foul on Gordon and not a yellow for guimaraes but the goals been coming
