Newcastle receive formal bid for Jamaal Lascelles – Report

Some big claims have emerged today on a potential outgoing, with Turkish journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu reporting that Besiktas have launched a bid for Newcastle United’s Jamaal Lascelles.

Sabuncuoğlu – a reporter for Sports Digitale who has 1.1 million followers on Twitter – states that the Turkish giants have lodged an ‘official offer’ for the centre-back.

It’s not the first time the skipper has been linked with a move to the Super Lig side. Sky Sports reported on Bestikas’ ‘strong interest’ over the final few days of the summer window, while The Mail stated earlier this month that they remain keen to bring the 30-year-old to Turkey.

He’s out of contract this summer and his sale may help lift the FFP/PSR log jam currently impacting our ability to recruit, but we also lack depth at centre-back. Without a replacement, would Eddie Howe really sanction his sale? His first-team prospects are limited now Sven Botman is fit again, yet he’s the next in line to fill in if he or Fabian Schar miss out. Then again, we do have Dan Burn, Emil Krafth and Paul Dummett who are capable of stepping in where needed.

Here’s the tweet below on the reported bid, which reads – ‘EXCLUSIVE | Beşiktaş made an official offer for Jamaal Lascelles, who plays for Newcastle United.’

  1. Would be good if we could replace him But that will cost 30 million which we won’t get
His form is better under Howe and alongside Trippier so I can’t see him going

  2. 3 to 5 million for him and the same for Manquillo.
Would that give us ffp of 25-40 million coz both will have 0 value left on the books.
