5 Young Players We Would Love to See NUFC Sign in 2024

Newcastle United is planning a serious overhaul to its lineup after a less-than-ideal beginning of the year. The team needs to improve its attack, defence, and midfield. Reports speak of NUFC keeping an eye on players like Isak and Wilson. But we thought we’d compile our wishlist with some talented players who have proven their worth at a young age – and who we’d like to see join an EPL side this summer. Newcastle’s side, ideally.

Florian Wirtz

At the age of 20, Witrz has already played 100 league games with Bayer Leverkusen. The young attacking midfielder is seen as one of the best young players in the world; he is incredibly dynamic and covers a lot of ground. His play style has been compared to that of De Bruyne and Jude Bellingham.

While it’s unlikely for him to leave Leverkusen anytime soon, he’s been rumoured to be on Barcelona’s radar. But, with no release clause in his contract, there’s no telling how big a fee the Germans will ask for.

Gavi

At the age of 19, Gavi is a player often compared to Xavi and Andrés Iniesta. He has a similar style of play, an incredible dribbling talent, vision, passing, and change of pace. His qualities were rewarded with Tuttosport’s Golden Boy award and the Kopa Trophy.

Since joining Barca’s first team in 2021, he played over 80 matches with Barca, and 21 times with the Spanish national team, including all four matches it played in the 2022 World Cup.

Gavi has a release clause of €1 billion in his contract that will expire in 2026.

Pedri

Another Barca youngster, 21-year-old Pedri plays as a central midfielder with the team. And he is a good one. He is capable of playing several offensive and midfield roles – he is classified as a central midfielder but he often acts as an attacking midfielder and as a forward. Sometimes he is compared to Xavi and Messi.

His release clause is also set to €1 billion, which seems to be a standard for Barcelona since losing Neymar to PSG.

Eduardo Camavinga

21-year-old Frenchman Eduardo Camavinga went from a refugee camp in Angola to stardom at Real Madrid. He made his senior debut with Rennes II in 2018, moving up to the first team in the following season, and leaving for Real in 2021.

Camavinga is a versatile defender, capable of playing as a central midfielder, a defensive midfielder or a full back. During a match last summer, Camavinga was compared to French ball wizard Zinedine Zidane.

Unfortunately, it’s unlikely for him to leave Real Madrid anytime soon. He extended his contract with Los Blancos last November, until 2029. And, as you might expect, he also has a €1 billion release clause.

Evan Ferguson

Evan Ferguson’s contract doesn’t have a release clause – but this only means that Brighton is free to negotiate his transfer. He has football in his blood: he is the son of former professional player Barry Ferguson. He is a valuable striker, especially good at being a target man, and he is very good in the air and at creating space for himself and his teammates. Alan Shearer called him “the real deal” with no obvious weakness to his game.

There’s still a lot of time left until the summer transfer season. Until then, we’ll keep our eyes and ears peeled for the latest transfer rumours – and hope for the best.
