Bruno Guimaraes update – Good/bad news as new Man City, Arsenal and PSG claims arrive

Manchester City have reached out to Bruno Guimaraes’ representatives to discuss a summer move for the Newcastle United midfielder, according to reports last night.

The 26-year-old is currently in Brazil for Joelinton’s wedding, but journalist Ben Jacobs reveals that the Premier League champions have ‘made contact’ with the player’s agent this week.

That’s the ‘bad news’, but Jacobs has better news on Arsenal and PSG. He reports that the Gunners have ‘no plans’ to trigger his £100m release clause – which expires on June 24th – and will only pursue the Brazilian if his price drops, which isn’t going to happen this summer.

As for PSG, they are ‘out the race’ for Bruno and expected to target other options instead, meaning Man City could be the one and only threat this summer.

City’s interest is a worry – they’d offer titles, Champions League football and the chance to work under Pep Guardiola – but I do wonder how the looming charges from 115 breaches may impact those offered a move to the Etihad?

  1. Sick of hearing about Bruno, if he had any loyalty he would not have had those clauses inserted in his contract.
Like most players and agents they are only interested in the money, so if he is going to move the sooner the better for me and we can move on.
Let’s face it we are not allowed to compete with salaries or transfers with the established clubs at the top who can cherry pick due to a corrupt system that protects them.

  2. That would be known as ‘tapping up’ and illegal therefore, wouldn’t it?
Honestly man. Get a grip of your writing.

  3. The timing for interest in him will be when the release clause expires.
Great player for the toon but overpriced at the speculated £100m. I wonder if arsenal and co will have a sniff at a lower price post clause timeline.
If so we’ll see how much his badge kissing means because I agree the toon would want a high price, but if the player wants to go then what to do ?
Related to this, the toon should be nowhere near ramsdale to help ARSEnal ease their own ffp

Charming. It happens regularly and we don’t know the finer details (they may well have used intermediaries and/or also been in touch with club). Also, we’re reporting on what a well-known journalist has said.

If you don’t believe it or have a problem with the story, take it up with Ben Jacobs – don’t shoot the messenger.

Sorry pal, but it’s only tapping up if a representative of a football club (whether it’s scout, coach, manager or director) meets/contacts a player directly… like when Klopp (the manager of LFC) met Virgil for a “coffee” at a truck stop while LFC were actively working on a deal to sign the big man. That was tapping up.

So agents are employed specifically to act as an intermediary; a loophole where money papers over the cracks. Lets just say you play LW for the Toon and Monchi wants to sign you for the Villa. He only has to get your agents number & they can legally disclose any detail in your contract (anything that is in the agents/players best interest) and determine if you (the player) may be interested in a move & how much you want & how much they’re willing to offer & how much the agent can make you sign for… all before officially putting cash money on the table. Hell, your agent can discuss your “potential” transfer with Monchi on speaker phone, with him sitting right next to you while you’re kickin’ Jadon Sancho’s **** in FC24 and there would be nothing illegal about it. But if Monchi called you personally on your phone, that would criminal. Then he’d be tapping you up.

But the Bruno G situation is too sticky because there is not a single person on the face of this Earth, who can honestly profess to love the beautiful game and NOT want to learn the in & outs from Pep Guardiola? Anyone who’s listened to Bruno’s interviews before will have an idea of what he thinks of Pep’s football & playing against his team. We all know Pep isn’t going to be in management for much longer, but how long is a piece of string, only Pep knows I suppose. Bruno the G & Rodri in midfield. Get out! Who’s going to able to can compete with them?
