‘Here we go!’ – Toon target set for £40m move after Newcastle fail with part-exchange bid

Almost two weeks ago, it emerged that Newcastle United had launched a player-plus-cash bid for Max Kilman, with Elliot Anderson part of our bid for the Wolves centre-back.

The Telegraph said that offer was of ‘no interest’ to Wolves, with the Midlands club valuing their star defender and captain at a fee in the region of £40m.

A fortnight later, Fabrizio Romano has announced that the 27-year-old is set to seal a £40m move to West Ham, who failed with a £25m bid just days before our part-exchange offer last month.

After his trademark ‘here we go!’ tweet, Romano reveals that medical has been booked for Kilman – who will be reunited with former Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui at the London stadium and won’t be arriving at St James’ Park.

Newcastle will be looking elsewhere in their pursuit of a right-sided centre-back and it seems we’re already making moves on that front, with talks taking place over a deal for AC Milan’s Malick Thiaw.
