Newcastle set Miguel Almiron asking price as club receive fresh interest – Report

As reported by Mark Douglas at the i, Newcastle United have placed a £15m price tag on Miguel Almiron ahead of the January window with multiple clubs interested in the winger.

There have been rumours that Almiron could leave in the last two windows as clubs from Saudi Arabia and USA showed interest, but none met the club’s valuation of the Paraguayan international.

It’s believed Newcastle are still very much open to selling him, especially given the lack of playing time under Eddie Howe this season, but it won’t be for any less than £15m as the club have explained to his advisors.

Douglas reveals that there’s fresh interest in the 30-year-old from Brazil, Turkey and again the United States, where he could go and play regular football once again as he edges towards the twilight of his career.

It feels like it would be a good time to part ways for both parties with Almiron seemingly not featuring in Howe’s plans and the club so desperate to find a new star to replace him on the right side of our attack.

  1. Can’t recall if he has 6 or 18 months on his contract. Either way but esp’ if the firmer that’s a big price for Almiron

  2. should have sold and replaced in the summer rather than spending all our time on an overpriced CB and a 15mil ST that dosent get a game when ST #1 and ST #2 are injured.

Apparently tried to sell him last January and the Summer but Miggy said no.Let’s see if he says no this time.

Should have sold Wilson and Trippier in the Summer also.

Similar to above except last January he said no and this summer we said no, if we’d have sold him and Miggy last Jan (Bayern + Saudi) we probably wouldn’t have had to sell Anderson or Minteh or at least kept hope of one of them.

  5. Am I the only Toon Fan who appreciates Almeron?
I recently saw a stat showing that when Longstaff Played Our Average goals were 1.83. When he Didn’t play, Average goals 1.56!

I wonder what the same stats comparison would show for Almeron?

    I suspect a similar difference!

  6. I am another who thinks we used to play better both Almiron and Longstaff. Still good squad players, when given a chance, Almiron played well the other night when he came on. Hwtl

William it’s not a case of not appreciating Almiron personally hope he gets a good move for him and his family but the harsh reality is you’ve got to know when to sell a player and that time has come we’ve went as far as we can with players like Almiron he’s not going to get any better you have to know when to upgrade something to be fair Joseph mentioned as well two potentially good players have been sold because we couldn’t move him on and if you want to be a top team that’s what you’ve got to do

  8. Almiron played well the other day and given our lack of striking depth I would keep him unless he wants to go in January
