Brentford set Bryan Mbeumo price tag after Newcastle, Arsenal and Liverpool interest

As reported by Alex Crook at talkSPORT, Brentford would be willing to part with Bryan Mbeumo for around £50m with Newcastle United believed to be one of the clubs interested.

After two windows hampered by financial restrictions, Newcastle really need a big transfer window with the arrival of a couple of first-team players to really help us push on this season.

Top of the list of priorities is a new right winger and it’s understood that Mbeumo could be our number one target after showing some great form with the Bees under Thomas Frank.

He’s been strongly linked in recent weeks – Mark Douglas at the i and The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards have both confirmed our interest – and this has been backed up by talkSPORT, who add that Liverpool and Arsenal are also keen on the Cameroon international.

The 25-year-old already has eight goals in nine Premier League games this season and would add a much-needed goal threat on the right side of our attack which has been severely lacking these last few years barring Miguel Almiron’s purple patch.

At £50m it should be a fairly affordable deal for Newcastle given our lack of spending lately and it’s one that is sure to be welcomed by the fan base who have grown frustrated over the off the field struggles this summer.

  1. This has auction written all over it .. Transfermarket rate him at €38 million .. is he that good for 50/60 million? … most ranking sites don’t have him in top 30 ‘s .. we need a top ranking ready made player before the season passes us by

  2. We need a top quality PL proven winger , which he has demonstrated he is. We also need cover for our two (soon to be one?) injury prone strikers, which he proved in Toneys absence he is more than capable of.
We clearly can’t afford both right now as well as the defender Howe seems to desire (although with SB due back before long and also JL too I’d say that’s now less urgent)
He has as many goals by himself so far as our entire squad after 9 games.
He’s basically two players we need for the arguably slight inflated price of one.
    He’s absolutely worth it

  3. Good player and proven in EPL. BvB are currently refreshing their squad and there’s opportunity for Newcastle IMHO. Donyell Malian is available, right footed CF blessed with blistering pace that plays across the front in a 433 for club and country. He could probably be purchased for £35 million. Also Karen Adeyemi a left footed RW player although likely to be more expensive. Nico Schlotterbeck a left footed CB again much less money than Guehi. Any 2 of these could be purchased within Newcastle’s reported January budget, all with Champions League experience.
