While working for Premier League Productions on Saturday, a brilliant clip has emerged of Alan Shearer passionately celebrating Newcastle’s winning goal against Arsenal right next to Gunners legend Ian Wright.
The duo were watching the game in the green room preparing for their punditry work as Shearer shouted “what a goal that is!” in Wright’s face before drooling over the quality of the cross and header!
On the goal, the former Toon striker was really impressed with the assist from Anthony Gordon as he claimed it was a “cross from the 90s” after it was perfectly weighted for Alexander Isak to head home. Watch the clip below:
Watching the clip back on the show, Wright did eventually find the funny side in Shearer’s celebration and it’s fair to say it was a goal deserving of all the three points.
Hopefully we’ll be able to see a few more of these Shearer celebrations as the season goes on as it’s been a fair few weeks since Newcastle actually managed a goal at St James’ Park in open play, with Gordon and Schar both scoring from the spot in the home games prior to our blank against Brighton.
