Newcastle agree late deal as Trevan Sanusi leaves to seal deadline day move

As we reported earlier today, Newcastle have been working on a number of late exits beyond Alexander Isak’s big-money switch to Liverpool.

One of those includes a loan exit for 18-year-old winger Trevan Sanusi, who started in a Friday night draw with former club Birmingham for Newcastle’s under-21s.

Ligue 1 sides Le Havre and Auxerre have been linked, but we revealed earlier this afternoon that newly-promoted Lorient are also showing interest in the teenager.

And it looks like that is where he’ll end up, with the French side agreeing a deal to sign the England youth international ahead of tonight’s 7pm deadline.

Newcastle have an option to recall Sanusi in January, should he be needed or struggle for minutes, but he could spend the full season in Ligue 1 if all goes to plan.

Sanusi impressed in pre-season 12 months ago, starring in a home game against Girona. However, he had an up and down 2024/25 campaign, with injuries disrupting his progress.

Hopefully the winger receives plenty of game time and shines in France, with the Young Lions star one of the club’s top Academy talents signed since the takeover.
