The ongoing saga over Moussa Sissoko’s future continues with Alan Pardew reportedly interested in signing the midfielder.
Palace, like everyone else, have been deterred from negotiations by the £35m price tag Mike Ashley slapped on the French international but it’s obvious that Sissoko wants to leave.
Now, according to claims in the Sunday People, Pardew is determined to take the midfielder to Selhurst Park. With Gayle joining from Palace and Townsend going the other way, the two clubs have become familiar business partners. Pardew already returned to sign Yohan Cabaye last summer and is intent on recreating his Newcastle side in South London.
It’s obvious that Sissoko is going to leave with the ongoing debate over the Newcastle captaincy underlining that most of us are resigned to that fact. I said recently that we need players committed to the cause and Sissoko isn’t. Despite contributing massively to last season’s relegation, he’s showing no sign of want to help the club to return to the Premier League. The exit door is that way.
