International manager says Newcastle United are a Premier League level team

United States manager Jurgen Klinsmann has told ESPN that Newcastle United are a Premier League level team.

It was a huge shock to see Newcastle United suffer relegation into the Championship last season but nonetheless, the Magpies have been able to attract a number of quality players to St. James’ Park over the summer.

One of the high profile names that Newcastle have been able to sign is United States international DeAndre Yedlin from Tottenham Hotspur.

Yedlin enjoyed a very fruitful campaign with Sunderland last season and for Newcastle to have signed the 23-year-old can be seen as a bit of a coup, especially considering the fact that a number of Premier League teams were interested in him.

Now Yedlin’s international manager Jurgen Klinsmann has gone on to speak regarding the defender’s move to St. James’ Park and the German has stated that he is happy with the transfer as Newcastle remain a Premier League team in his opinion.

Klinsmann told ESPN , “I think he (Yedlin) is Premier League level, absolutely, and obviously playing for a tremendous club like Newcastle United, it feels like the Premier League. That club has only one goal and that’s going straight back up, so hopefully that’s going to be the case.

“That league (Championship) itself is a brutal grind because there is no real time for coaches to work in between games, it is going from game to game to game.

“That will be a huge challenge and it is going to be different to the Premier League but he’s grinding it through, he continues to mature and from a club point of view, it’s totally fine.”
