Speaking to Sky Sports, Hull City defender Curtis Davies has stated his belief that Newcastle United star Dwight Gayle can go on to become the top scorer in the Championship this season.
Newcastle United splashed a sizeable £10 million to secure the services of Dwight Gayle from Crystal Palace this summer and there was a general consensus at the time that the investment was a bit of a risky one for the Magpies due to the striker’s struggles at Selhurst Park over the years.
As it has turned out though, Gayle has already made a huge impact at Newcastle and many feel that the 25-year-old could well go on to justify his hefty price tag this season alone.
Understandably, Gayle has managed to impress a lot of people with his performances for Newcastle so far and now even Hull City star Curtis Davies has gone on to hail the former Peterborough United man.
Davies stated that Gayle is an ‘unbelievable player’ and claimed that the striker will finish the season as the Championship’s top goal scorer.
He told Sky Sports (via HITC), “I think he will be the top scorer in that league because he is an unbelievable player, good finisher and I am surprised that Palace actually let him go.”
