According to the Chronicle, Newcastle are ‘keeping tabs’ on Kasey Palmer’s situation at Chelsea – and could make an attempt to sign him on loan if moves for Kenedy and Loftus Cheek fail to come off.
The 21-year-old has been tipped to break into the first team at Chelsea in the future, however his arrival would be a significant downgrade on the likes of Kenedy and Loftus Cheek – being two players Rafa is clearly keen to sign on loan this summer.
He’s an England U-21 international and an exciting young talent, but his recent loan moves away from Stamford Bridge haven’t suggested that he’s someone we should be pushing to sign this summer.
In 2016/17 he helped Huddersfield to promotion with 5 goals and 3 assists, and he was out on loan again last season – being with Huddersfield over the first half of 2017/18 and at Derby from January onwards.
As the clips below highlight, he looks like a fairly explosive player and a raw talent, but just 2 goals and 2 assists in 22 appearances (mainly at Championship level) hardly make him the sort of proven player we should be looking at.

If he was signed as one for the future then great, but if we tried for Kenedy and Loftus Cheek on loan from Chelsea and ended up with Palmer it’d be pretty underwhelming to say the least.
Fortunately the Chronicle reckon Palmer is a ‘back up option’ to Kenedy and Loftus Cheek, but knowing us under Mike Ashley, I’d like to bet which one we end up with..
Will not happen
